The Dream Realized was created to encourage black Americans that homeownership can be a reality. The address in the painting is 1968, symbolic of when the Fair Housing Act that was instated in the State of Wisconsin. The combination of the American flag with the African American flag symbolizes black Americans are included in building a better wealthier life through homeownership.
